Punta National High School: Strive for Excellence, Reach New Heights

Punta National High School, established officially in 2023, stands as a tribute to a lifelong quest of knowledge and a firm dedication to educational achievement. With the assistance of our first-ever educators—Famila B. Ibona from Baybay City Senior High School, Jonlyn F. Tabudlong and Daniel O. Guyab from Mailhi National High School, Donna Lee F. Fernandez from Gabas Integrated School, Evelyn A. Suñer from Plaridel National High School, Rochell T. Codilla from Mapgap Integrated School, Kimberly Jay V. Gabriel and Angelica C. Valenzona newly hired teachers—along with the ever active and dedicated school head, Mrs. Maribel M. Morillo. The school will evolve over the years into a beacon of learning, promoting growth and development.

Punta National High School has grown significantly over time. From remaining with its adjacent elementary school, Punta Elementary School, to staying at the barangay multi-purpose gymnasium, to establishing its own humble beginnings with a 6-unit TLS and 2-classroom structure. The school also increased its academic offerings, beginning with Grades 7 and 8, progressing to Grade 9 in the second year, and finally offering a full Junior High School in the third and current year, respectively. The founding and success of Punta National High School may be attributed to a group of significant individuals whose tireless efforts paved the road for its development. At the vanguard we have our very own School Head, Maribel M. Morillo, who worked smoothly to handle the bureaucratic complexities of processing the critical documents required for the school's operating authorization. Her dedication and effective coordination provided a solid basis for the institution. The Superintendent of the Schools Division of Baybay City, Dr. Manuel P. Albaño, offered critical oversight throughout the school's early phases, helping to shape its organizational structure and administrative processes and played a critical role in overlooking the construction of temporary learning space and classroom buildings at the school site assuring the school met the necessary standards. The unwavering support of local government authorities, exemplified by the City Mayor, Hon. Jose Carlos L. Cari together with the very own Barangay Captain of Punta, Hon. Virgilio D. Plaza and of course the Congressman of the fifth district of
Leyte, Hon. Carl Nicolas C. Cari, provided substantial impetus to the school's journey, reaffirming its community connection, and laying a solid basis for future undertakings. These visionary leaders helped mold the trajectory of Punta National High School, creating an enduring legacy of educational
excellence.

Punta National High School is not only a place of academic rigor, but soon to be a center for extracurricular activities. The teachers allowed the students to express their distinct talents by participating in various school contests and activities. Punta NHS has consistently responded to the changing educational landscape. From adopting digital learning platforms to addressing societal changes, the school has faced problems with tenacity. The Punta NHS community remains dedicated to inclusivity, diversity, and providing an atmosphere that prepares students for the complexities of the modern world.

Punta NHS takes pride in its close ties with the community. Initiatives like the "Tree and Mangrove Planting" and "Coastal Clean-Up Drive" programs, as well as partnerships with barangays, demonstrate the school's dedication to social responsibility. Currently, Punta NHS is still working to have comprehensive cutting edge facilities and technology in the near future. With this vision, it will demonstrate the school's commitment to prepare students to face the challenges of a constantly changing global landscape. As Punta National High School moves forward, the school stays at the forefront of instructional innovation. The introduction of numerous programs on different grade levels, as well as a focus on sustainability projects, demonstrate Punta NHS’ dedication to educating students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

Punta National High School envisions a future wherein every student can achieve academically, creatively, and ethically. It is committed to continuous improvement and will continue to adapt and innovate to ensure that its students graduate as caring, informed, and resilient global citizens. Punta National High School is indebted to its founders' dedication, the tireless efforts of past and present educators, the steadfast support of the Punta National High School community, and the students' limitless potential. Punta National High School looks to the future with gratitude for the past and
anticipation for the generations to come.
