Mapgap Integrated School: Nurturing Minds, Building Futures

Mapgap Integrated School is one of the educational institutions implementing kindergarten to Senior High School education (K-12). The School lies in a low-hilly land of more or less six thousand four hundred sq.m. and is prone to typhoons, landslide and earthquake. The school caters school-aged children from kindergarten to grade 12 coming from this barangay and the Barangays of Matam-is , Sapa, and portions of high school- aged children of Barangay San Juan and Barangay Ciabu. It is located in the interior, southern part of Baybay which is 15 kilometers away from the city of Baybay and 3 kilometers away from the Baybay 10 district office located at Barangay Ciabu. The school has evolved over the years into a beacon of learning, fostering the growth and development of generations. 

In the past years, a group of passionate educators, led by the different school heads, envisioned a school that would not only impart academic knowledge but also instill values of community, integrity, and lifelong learning. Prior to 2017, the School as an Elementary Central School opened its doors to meet the needs of the students living in nearby barangays. Over the years, Mapgap Integrated School experienced significant growth. From its humble beginnings of old classroom buildings, the school expanded in academic offerings. In 2017, everyone witnessed the opening of Junior High School, Senior High school in 2019, setting Mapgap IS apart as a pioneer in embracing more higher educational advancements. 

The establishment and success of Mapgap Integrated School owe a debt of gratitude to a cadre of influential individuals whose dedicated efforts paved the way for its inception. At the forefront was Sergio T. Paña, who collaborated seamlessly to navigate the bureaucratic intricacies involved in processing the crucial documents required for the school's permit to operate. Their commitment and efficient coordination laid a solid foundation for the institution. Dr. Robinson L. Garcia provided crucial oversight during the school's formative stages, contributing to its organizational structure and administrative processes. Dr. Genis S. Murallos , Schools Division Superintendent of Baybay City Division, played a pivotal role by endorsing the application for the permit to operate, ensuring the school met the necessary educational standards. The unwavering support of local government officials, exemplified by City Mayor Jose Carlos L. Cari and Congressman Carl L. Cari, added significant impetus to the school's journey, reinforcing its connection to the community and securing a robust foundation for its future endeavors. These visionary leaders collectively shaped the trajectory of Mapgap Integrated School, leaving an enduring legacy of educational excellence both Academic and Extracurricular Activities. Mapgap Integrated School is not just a place of academic rigor but also a hub
of extra-curricular activities like sports development. The teachers let the students to showcase their diverse talents by joining different school contest and activities. Mapgap Integrated School takes pride in its strong ties to the local community. Initiatives such as the "Tree Planting" and also” Clean-Up Drive” program and partnerships with barangay underscore the school's commitment to social responsibility. Mapgap IS has become a hub for community events, fostering collaboration and mutual support.

In the 21st century, Mapgap IS underwent a comprehensive modernization project, incorporating state- of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge technology. The new science and innovation wing reflects the school's dedication to preparing students for the challenges of a rapidly changing global landscape. Mapgap Integrated School will soon celebrate its 2nd grand alumni homecoming, bringing together alumni from across the decades. The event will become a testament to the enduring spirit of the Mapgap IS family, with stories and memories shared that spanned generations. As Mapgap Integrated School moves forward, the school remains at the forefront of educational innovation. The introduction of different programs from different grade level and a focus on sustainability initiatives reflect Mapgap IS
commitment to preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
