Makinhas National High School

History

Welcome to the rich tapestry of Makinhas National High School, a beacon of education and excellence deeply embedded in the history of its community. Established in 1968, Makinhas National High School has undergone a remarkable evolution, reflecting the resilience and commitment to education of its founders and the communities it serves.

Originally known as Makinhas Barangay High School from 1968 to 1971, the institution underwent a series of name changes that mirrored the shifting dynamics of its surroundings. It was renamed Makinhas Rural High School from 1972 to 1975, only to return to its original title, Makinhas Barangay High School, from 1976 to 1994. Finally, in 1995, it embraced its current identity as Makinhas National High School, a name that resonates with pride and signifies its national significance.

Makinhas National High School has played a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape of its region, serving several communities before the establishment of Ciabu and Mailhi National High Schools. The institution has stood as a cornerstone of education, fostering knowledge, skills, and values among its students.

In 2019, Makinhas National High School embarked on a new chapter with the opening of its Senior High School Department, welcoming 48 learners into a realm of specialized education. This expansion marked a significant stride towards providing a holistic learning experience for the students.

The school's commitment to excellence is evident in its active participation in various academic and non-academic contests, including Math Challenge, School Paper Competitions, Sports, and the culturally enriching Binaybayon contest. These endeavors not only showcase the intellectual prowess of the students but also demonstrate the school's dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals.

A testament to its success is the unwavering support of the community, which stands as a pillar for the school's programs and activities. The collaborative spirit between the school and its stakeholders reinforces the notion that education is a collective effort, transcending the confines of the classroom.

However, the institution faces contemporary challenges, including a decline in enrollment attributed to the establishment of nearby high schools and the geographical vulnerability to landslides. Despite these hurdles, Makinhas National High School remains resolute, driven by the enduring spirit of excellence that has been its guiding principle.

In conclusion, Makinhas National High School stands as a testament to the transformative power of education, weaving together a history of adaptation, resilience, and commitment to excellence. With the tagline "Excellence is our priority," the institution continues to shape the minds of future leaders, emphasizing the importance of knowledge, character, and community.
