History
Brgy. Mailhi graces the southern landscapes of Baybay City, offering picturesque mountainous vistas. Currently home to 326 households, the community sustains itself through farming and various viable endeavors aimed at securing livelihoods for their families. However, the tranquility of this area was disrupted by the impact of natural calamities such as Typhoon Odette and Agaton. Consequently, all residents were compelled to seek refuge in temporary evacuation areas designated by local government authorities. Mailhi National High is located in one of the coolest mountainous area of Baybay City with its very alluring scenic view of vast green valley of coconut tree as the major crop of this barangay, 18 kilometers from the City and can be reached through motorcycles, habal-habal, van, and bus.
To date, the school has a teaching force consisting of nineteen regular teachers, one provisionary teachers in Senior High School, and the following nonteaching staff: one ADAS, two security guard (MOOE funded & LGU subsidy) (MOOE fund). As a learning environment for formal education to take place, Mailhi National High School follows the directives of the School Division of Baybay City to properly implement the different activities, programs and projects. Unluckily, we were entirely affected by the destructive natural calamity typhoon Agaton last April 2022, which resulted to the declaration of school site as Landslide Prone Area by MGB and the displacement of school classes to the relocation area. At present, classes are conducted in 3 separate Temporary Learning Areas that accommodated the various feeder barangays.
We are hoping that as soonest possible time, we can have a permanent school site for us to be back in our regular class program that may intact all our learners and internal stakeholders. The unwavering dedication and hard work of both our students and faculty have yielded remarkable achievements. In 2021, our school proudly secured the championship title in the Division Science Poster Making Contest, a testament to the impressive visual prowess displayed by our talented students. Furthermore, our commitment to holistic education and community engagement was acknowledged when the school was honored as the Best Brigada Eskwela Implementer in the previous year, underscoring the collaborative support of our stakeholders. These accolades reflect the collective effort and commitment to excellence within our school community.
