Responding to the aftermath of a devastating landslide during Typhoon Agaton in April 2022, the school extended its reach and impact. To accommodate displaced pupils and teachers from Barangay Mailhi, Higuloan Elementary School took a proactive stance, shifting to a complete monograde system. This transition was not merely an organizational change; it symbolized the school's commitment to community welfare and resilience. In the wake of the natural disaster, the school opened its doors to those affected, providing a stable and supportive learning environment during a challenging time for both the elementary and secondary level.
In a testament to the collaborative spirit of education, an additional seven temporary learning spaces were constructed with support from the DepEd Central Office. These facilities were specifically designated to cater to the students of Mailhi National High School, reinforcing the commitment to providing a stable and conducive learning environment amidst challenging circumstances. This collaborative effort reflects the dedication of all involved parties to ensuring that education remains a priority, even in the face of adversity.
The school has consistently demonstrated excellence in academic and extracurricular activities. The pupils have actively participated in district, cluster and division contests, showcasing their skills in Literacy, Numeracy, and Science Quizzes. Notably, during the National Reading Month Celebration the school achieved 1st place in the cluster contest in "Spelling Bee Contest". The school proudly boasts a series of noteworthy academic and extracurricular achievements, showcasing a commitment to excellence and holistic development. In January 2021, the school received the Pasidungog award for achieving SBM Level III, affirming its dedication to School-Based Management.
The year 2022 brought further acclaim and was recognized for the "Most Functional and Productive Implementation of Gulayan sa Paaralan Program" in December. This accolade underscores the school's commitment to practical and sustainable initiatives, contributing to both education and the broader community.In 2023, Higuloan Elementary School continued its winning streak by being honored as the "Best Implementer on Literacy and Numeracy Program." This recognition highlights the school's effective strategies in promoting literacy and numeracy skills among its students. Moreover, the school made a mark in the realm of scouting, participating in both Girls Scout and Boys Scout Jamborally in November 2023. Notably, the Girl Scout contingent secured the 1st place overall, showcasing not only leadership and teamwork but also a dedication to scout values.
