History
Being the biggest and the central school, Ciabu National High School is the heart of Baybay 10 District consisting of 10 other schools in the district. The school started its operation in 2009 as an annex school of Makinhas National High School having only 53 learner-enrollees at the time and managed by Mr. Joserico Valenzona together with 5 other teachers. The annexation of Ciabu NHS Campus paved way to giving access to learners who were coming from its feeder barangays namely; Amguhan, Maypatag, Monterico, Kabunga-an, Ampihanon, Zacarito, Ciabu, Mapgap, and Sapa. It was also at that same challenging year that the school utilized the barangay gym of Ciabu as well as a local church for the classes in grades 7 and 8. In the next three years, new buildings were erected paving the way for a more
suitable and conducive classrooms. Ciabu National High School’s founding came when its legal basis as recognized national high school in the approval of its corresponding Republic Act in November 26, 2014. The school has been celebrating its foundations day ever since. The issuance of permit from DepEd also helped the school’s learner population as it enrolment started soaring and fast growing every year. Ciabu NHS has faced many challenges and trials but this did not hold the school to be on the pedestal. Graduates from the school were able to land academic scholarships in prestigious colleges and universities. It was also able to produce athletes and contestants who won various competitions both in the division, regional and national levels. One of its outstanding accomplishments was being crowned overall champion in the 2019 Binaybayon Festival. Despite being at the hinterlands, the school
triumphantly flew its banner in the Schools Division of Baybay City. Having 6 feeder barangay elementary schools, Ciabu NHS boasts its community’s unparalleled support. Parents, barangay officials, and other stakeholders are always eager to share whatever resources they can extend to the learners and to the school. From a tiny annexed school to a full-fledge national high school, today Ciabu NHS soars high with pride with all its achievements in both academic and extra-curricular endeavors. All its dreams and glory were realized by critical involvement of all internal and external stakeholders.
