History

Candadam Elementary School was founded in 1940. It is in the northeast part of Baybay City, Leyte and about one and half (1.5) kilometer away from the city. It is along the national highway going to Ormoc. It is bounded on the North and East by Barangay San. Isidro, to the south of Brgy. Cogon and on the West by Camotes Sea. It is an institution of learning which always caters the safety and protection of the learners in the school and will help all recipients be safe at all means. Moreover, like every educational institution Candadam ES wishes to provide a safe and better place for learners to express their knowledge, talents, and skill for the holistic development of every learner. It is of utmost importance that to succeed in every possible way, the school has specific goals and targets, realistic plans with appropriate strategies and resources that can sustain the school to serve its clientele. Candadam Elementary School is one of the schools which aspire to produce learners that are equipped with the necessary basic skills and quality education.

Candadam Elementary School was established in the year 1948 with the noble vision of providing quality education to learners of Brgy. Candadam, Baybay City, Leyte. Its founding was driven by the determination of the late Barrio Teniente Mt. Geroncio Villocino who initiated the construction of the schoolhouse. One of the first teachers was Mr. Ananias Borneo and later on the late Atty. Eugenio J. Alvarado Jr. after the war. Until such a time, the enrolment increases wherein the year 1948 Mrs. Gaudiosa Pil was a Grade I Teacher. Its land area is 282,000 sq.m. Since its foundation, Candadam Elementary School has witnessed tremendous growth and development. The school’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic education has propelled to new heights. Significant milestones, Outstanding Brigada Eskwela Implementer district, division and region awardee, both school, stakeholder and coordinator. Best in SELG implementer Division awardee, produced Outstanding Science Teacher for 3 consecutive years and School-Based Management(SBM) level 2 with continuous and incessant support from both internal and external stakeholders.

Throughout its history, Candadam Elementary School has been fortunate to have remarkable individuals who have shaped its character and success. The visionary school was headed in the person of Mr. Sergio Pil, Mr. Jose Abapo, he was a good performer, academia, efficient and effective administrator. Mrs. Antonia Loreta, Mr. Eriberto Alvarado, Mrs. Apolinaria Austero, Mr. Eutiquio Napoles , Mrs. Nena M. Arradaza, one of the outstanding administrator of Baybay North District , she served Candadam Community School from the school year 1993-1994. She served only 2 years because she was transferred to another school being the first placer for outstanding non-central school in the whole division of Leyte. Mr. Vicente M. Alkuino, Mrs. Elsa B. Tabudlong , after serving Candadam ES
transferred to Baybay North Central School as Principal and later to the Division office as Education Program Supervisor in Science and Special Education. Mr. Aldrin F. Avellana served Candadam Elementary School for 3 years and later transferred to another school as School Principal then at present at the Schools Division of Baybay City as Education Program Supervisor in TLE. Mrs. Pamela E. Montejo , Mrs. Gloria Albarillo who have left an incredible mark on the school history. Their unwavering commitment to learners’ welfare, innovative teaching methods, and passion for education
have been instrumental in shaping the lives of countless learners through the years.

Academic excellence lies at the heart of Candadam Elementary School’s mission. Competent and qualified teachers who are knowledgeable in their subjects. Teachers who are dedicated to their profession and stay updated on the latest educational methodologies. Well-structured and up-to-date curriculum that meets educational standards. Inclusion of diverse subjects and extracurricular activities to provide a holistic education. Active participation and engagement of students in the learning process. Supportive and interactive classroom environments that encourage critical thinking and creativity. The school has consistently strived to provide students Opportunities for students to engage in extracurricular activities, such as sports, and arts, which contribute to a well-rounded education. Strong Collaborations with the local community, businesses, and educational institutions to enhance the overall learning experience. At Candadam Elementary School, community involvement is deeply ingrained in its values. The school actively engages with the local community through various initiatives. Partnerships with community organizations, volunteer projects, and social impact on programs with the
utilization of Project BLAZE have fostered a sense of social responsibility among students, instilling in them the importance of giving back and making a positive difference.

Over the years, Candadam Elementary School has encountered its fair share of challenges. The resilience of the school community, including students, parents, teachers, and administrators, has enabled the school to overcome obstacles. Some of the key challenges were poverty and economic uncertainty due to rising of insurgency. Each challenge has provided invaluable lessons, fostering a spirit of determination and adaptability that defines the essence of Candadam Elementary School. As we look back on our journey, we take pride in the collective efforts that have allowed us to conquer these obstacles, and we remain committed to embracing future challenges with the same resilience and determination. The enduring commitment to education, the ceaseless endeavors of its educators, and the outstanding accomplishments of its learners stand as a testament to the rich history of Candadam Elementary School. Originating from humble roots, the school has evolved into a dynamic public elementary institution that has significantly influenced the intellectual development of young minds and cultivated a passion for learning. Achieving milestones in academic excellence and fostering profound community engagement exemplify the fundamental values that have propelled Candadam Elementary School to its commendable stature. Likewise, the school principals have systematically implemented reforms, progressively steering the school towards enhancement in terms of accessibility, quality, and governance. Their impactful leadership has played a pivotal role in the school's attainment of educational objectives, initiating commendable reforms that encompass improvements in the physical infrastructure, mentorship, and coaching of the teaching staff, and, most significantly, elevation of academic performance among learners. They diligently worked towards advancing both the physical and academic aspects of the school, utilizing the expertise and resources of stakeholders, including external financial support. This strategic approach has been guided by the school's vision-mission and a commitment to continuous improvement. Being the current principal, I do adhere and continue the school’s commitment on the governance towards achieving mastery of competencies in an organized and effective system for the benefit of all stakeholders-the teaching and non-teaching personnel most especially for the betterment of the learners.

Furthermore, despite the unexpected challenges posed by the global pandemic COVID-19 during the academic years 2020-2021, 2021-2022, and 2022-2023, significant progress has been achieved. This journey commenced with the transformation of the school grounds through the installation of a new rehabilitation face, the construction of plant boxes, the addition of school signage, the repair of the school stage, and the installation of handwashing facilities. Other enhancements included school landscaping, beautification efforts, the construction of pathways, and the ongoing development of a kindergarten classroom. The school continues to advance in its developmental trajectory, and it is anticipated that the ongoing improvements in physical facilities will pave the way for academic excellence. The goal is to foster a high-quality learning environment that produces exemplary learners, contributing to a better, safer, and more conducive educational setting for all Candadam ES learners.
