History

For over 90 years of existence, Can-ipa Elementary School has stood as a beacon of education and opportunity for the learners of Barangay Kan-ipa. As a public elementary school, it has played a vital / pivotal role in shaping the young minds and preparing them for a successful and brighter future. This article delves into the inspiring journey of Can-ipa Elementary School, tracing its milestones and honoring the individuals who have contributed to its enduring legacy.

Can-ipa Elementary School was established in the 1930’s with the noble vision of providing quality education to learners in Barangay Kan-ipa. Its founding was driven by the determination of the Barangay leaders / officials to create a nurturing educational environment that would empower learners to thrive. And of course the kind-hearted donor of the school site, The PARAISO FAMILY. That led to the creation of the school. Before, the school was named Can-ipa Primary School, which holds only Grades 1 to Grade 4, with 2 teachers handling 2 grades at a time. Then, in the year 1980, the school become a complete elementary school, but still a multi-grade school, yet was able to produce quality learners which can compete with the products of big and famous schools. In the year 2010, at last Can-ipa Elementary School has become a Monograde Complete Elementary School. With its committed and dedicated mentors, we can see its fruits, who are now successful and wavering for greater future.

Since its inception or establishment, Can-ipa Elementary School, has witnessed tremendous growth and development. The school’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic education has propelled it to new heights. Significant milestones, such as the establishment of three makeshift classrooms through the support of its Barangay Officials, Stakeholders and Parents have marked the journey. Academic achievements such as winning in the District and Division Level initiated contests are a testament to the dedication of learners and educators alike.

Throughout its history, Can-ipa Elementary School has been fortunate to have remarkable individuals who have shaped its character and success. The visionary school heads as follows: Mrs. Concepcion C. Suarez, Mr. Guido M. Alera, Dr. Josemilo P. Ruiz, Mrs. Amelita S. Ang, Mrs. Pilar O. Lua, Dr. Marilou M. Soria, Mrs. Donna Balaresia, Dr. Denniss B. Castillano, Mr. Dosito D. Moreno and presently Mrs. Gilda F. Escasinas, who have shared an indelible mark on the improvement of the school. Their unwavering commitment to learner’s welfare, innovative teaching methods, and passion for education have been instrumental or agent in shaping the lives of countless learners.

We are also grateful to our Barangay leaders who have extended their help to
the great success of the school on its programs and projects. To mention a few of

Academic excellence lies at the heart of Can-ipa Elementary School’s mission. The school has consistently strived to provide learners with a strong educational foundation. Noteworthy achievements, including winning in academic contests such as MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge (District and Division Level ), Nutrition Quiz Bee ( District and Division Level ) Science Quiz and Mathemetics quiz Bee (District Level), demonstrate the commitment of both learners and teachers. Beyond academics, Can-ipa Elementary School encourages a thriving extracurricular culture, with achievements in Sport Activities such as joining in District and City Meet and Scouting activities, which develops the physical and mental abilities of the learners and making the school a hub of talent and creativity. During the leadership of Dr. Denniss B. Castillano, Can-ipa Elementary School received a recognition award for being prompt in submitting and liquidating the Schools Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses ( MOOE ) for three consecutive years through the initiative of Mrs. Aloha A. Ilhig, as the school disbursing officer during that time. At present, another recognition award was received by the Can-ipa Elementary school as prompt in updating the Learner Information System (LIS) through the initiative of Mr. Ronald S. Didal, the school LIS Coordinator.

At Can-ipa Elementary School, community involvement is deeply ingrained in its values. The school actively engages with the local community through various initiatives. Partnerships with community organization, volunteer projects, and social impact programs through “Bayanihan” have fostered a sense of giving back and making a positive difference. Over the years, Can-ipa Elementary School has encountered its fair share of challenges. The resilience of the school community, including learners, parents, teachers’ stakeholders and administrators, has enabled the school to overcome obstacles. Some of the key challenges Can-ipa Elementary School has faced includes:

a. Drop-outs
b. absenteeism
c. presence of non-numerates and non-readers
d. lack of financial to sustain our programs and projects
Each challenge has provided invaluable lessons, fostering a spirit of determination and adaptability that defines the essence of Can-ipa Elementary School. As we look back on our journey, we take pride in the collective efforts that have allowed us to conquer these obstacles, and we remain committed to embracing future challenges with the same resilience and determination.
