Unveiling the Legacy: Exploring the Vibrant History of Banahao National High School

Nestled just 7 km from the city proper, Banahao National High School holds its roots in Barangay Banahao, one of the 92 vibrant communities shaping the landscape of the City of Baybay. This educational haven, established in 2015, has evolved into a beacon of knowledge, pride, and community engagement. It has 7 public elementary schools nearby to sustain its enrollment namely Biasong, Cabalasan, Banahao, Mahayahay, Bidlinan, Pansagan and San Juan. The said barangays have a complete elementary school. The transformative years unfolded in 2017, marked by the construction of a dedicated DepEd building and an LGU building. This significant infrastructure expansion not only symbolized growth but also paved the way for the introduction of Senior High School offerings effective in the School Year 2019-2020 offering Academic track: GAS (General Academic Strand). Fortunately, the following year the school granted to additionally operate another Academic track: HUMSS (Humanities and Social Sciences) effective for the school year 2020-2021. These developments signaled school's commitment to holistic education. The school humbly started with its achievements. Banahao National High School became a recipient of the Fo Guang Shan Foundation twice and was awarded as one of the best implementing schools of the Three Acts of Goodness only meant that our learners were exhibiting and have learned to share the values of Doing Good Deeds, Speaking Good Words, and Thinking Good Thoughts. Banahao National High School also proudly boasts academic achievements such as securing SBM Level III accreditation and being honored as the GPP Regional Awardee. The establishment of Banahao National High School was a joint effort of Mrs.
Adela C. Amistoso, former Barangay Captain Abe C. Amistoso with the Barangay Council of Banahao, and the Barangay Officials of its neighboring barangays (Banahao, Bidlinan, Kabalasan, Mahayahay , Pansagan, San Juan, and Sapa) through a petition that was fully supported by the local government unit headed by Congressman Jose Carlos L. Cari, City Mayor Carmen L. Cari, Vice Mayor Mike L. Cari with the SP City Officials, and Baybay City Division School Authorities headed by Sir Genis S. Murallos, CESO V, and Dr. Marilyn B. Siao, OIC-ASDS. The challenges in the day-to-day operation of the school was surmounted by the great work and effort of its first school head Mrs. Julieta T. Denden. Through the years, achievements and developments were continued by the enthusiastic school heads namely, Mr. Crisanto Escasinas, Mrs. Irene B. Mangle and currently with Mr. Francis B. Recto. Throughout its history, Banahao National High School has been fortunate to have remarkable individuals who have shaped its character and success. We showcase our learners’ remarkable skills, knowledge and sportsmanship to foster a culture of balance in terms of academics and extracurricular activities. The school had been awarded with its competitive learners in different Division level contests, private competitions, quiz bees and sports events. In any of these, teachers and learners always bring pride to the school. Along the years, dynamic teachers of Banahao National High School produced a number of research proposals and 2 of it were approved by the Division Office to conduct their research. Additionally, the school has showcased prowess in extracurricular activities, with notable victories in various grade levels at the DSTMF. Beyond the classroom, Banahao National High School actively participates in the rich tapestry of community life. Fiesta celebrations witness our presence, and our commitment to environmental stewardship is evident through tree planting initiatives, showcasing the school's integral role in fostering community bonds.
Yet, amidst triumphs, the school faces challenges, particularly in addressing the pressing issue of insufficient classrooms.
