These walls have stood for 77 years, a beacon of education and opportunity for the children of Barangay Ampihanon. Ampihanon Elementary School was established in 1946 by the people of Ampihanon, Baybay City, Leyte. The school was founded on the generous donation of land by Teniente del Barrio Casiano Gulayan, who wanted to create a nurturing educational environment for the children of the community. The early years of school were marked by many challenges. Access to the school was difficult, and the school was made of light materials that were easily damaged by the elements. However, the determination of the community to provide their children with a quality education kept the school going. One of the school's most significant milestones was its transformation from a multigrade school to a monograde school. This allowed the school to provide complete basic education to the community, from kindergarten to grade 6. In addition, the school has built additional buildings to cater to the growing needs of its Learners. These new buildings are equipped with modern facilities. The school has also achieved several academic successes. Its Learners have won numerous awards in district and division competitions. These achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Learners, teachers, and staff. These challenges have come in many forms, including insurgency, typhoons, flash floods, and most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges, the school community has always found a way to overcome them.
